Vinyasa Yoga, Ashtanga, Restorative Yoga, Yin Yoga, and the list goes on! There are many different types of yoga and we can imagine that at times this can feel a bit daunting and that you ask yourself ‘Which type of yoga fits best to me and what I’m looking for?’
Don’t worry, you’re not the only one!

What helps us explain the different types of yoga (just a little bit better) is to look at them on an imaginary line from; on the one hand as little as possible physical movement (known as yin yoga’s) - to more physical movement on the other hand (known as yang yoga’s). It's really our own personal attempt to simplify our explanation on the different types of yoga to those who have zero or little experience with them. This post will highlight a little more on the different types of yoga for you to see & feel which ones relate best to what you are in need of at this moment.
Beginning on the side of as little as possible physical movement; the more 'overarchingly calm' forms of yoga are Restorative Yoga and Yin Yoga.
Restorative Yoga: Restorative Yoga literally means 'renewing yoga'. This means that with this yoga you address the self-healing capacity of your body. This can be needed both during or after a period of physical or mental overload. Restorative Yoga is the gentle practice of asanas, each held for longer than in conventional yoga (~5 or more minutes), often with the support of props, to relax the body, reduce stress, and often to prepare for pranayama. Your body can do a lot more than you think, but you have to give it the rest and exercise it needs.
Yin Yoga: The postures you adopt in this form of yoga are mainly aimed at strengthening and relaxing connective tissue and joints; they stretch deeper muscles and loosen the pelvic area. In the first instance, the postures are intended to be able to meditate longer in the Lotus position, but it is an especially nice exercise for those who have a desk job.
We'll now move towards highlighting the more physically active forms of yoga that we offer at the studio; these include Beginners Vinyasa, All Levels Vinyasa Yoga, Strong Vinyasa Flow, Ashtanga Yoga as well as Yang to Yin.

Beginners Vinyasa: This class is a great way for beginners to learn Vinyasa yoga and is also enjoyable for all levels of practitioners who are in the mood for a slow, smooth and conscious practice. In Beginners Vinyasa you will learn the correct application of a series of postures (asanas) and you will experience how important breathing techniques are in helping you to get out of your head. That combined with the ease and comfort Arben will bring in his teachings, you'll both experience a safe as well as eye-opening class to grow in your practice.
All Levels Vinyasa Yoga: Vinyasa yoga is a dynamic form of yoga and is currently the most common yoga style. Vinyasa is also known as Flow yoga: you can see it best as coordinating a flow of certain postures on the movement of the breath. You flow, as it were, from one posture to another in a sequence.
Strong Vinyasa Flow: In this Strong Vinyasa Flow class you will experience both a body and mind workout. This is a more intense class aiming to fire up your upper core and build your arm and shoulder strength. Through creative sequencing and with an energizing flow we will power up the body! This class is not for beginners! It is recommended that you have taken at least 15-20 Vinyasa classes before joining this class!
Ashtanga Yoga: Ashtanga is a traditional yoga style. You’ll gain strength and flexibility as well as balance in body and mind. In every class we practice the same fixed series. Over time and with some practice this practice will become a moving meditation where the attention turns inward.
We love the balance between a more active and a more calm class and that’s why we offer Yang to Yin classes as well; which incorporates Vinyasa yoga at the beginning (for the first 30 minutes) and then a transition into Yin Yoga for the remainder of the class.

Absolutely New to yoga? That’s oke! You can join our Ashtanga, Beginners Vinyasa, All Levels Vinyasa, Yang to Yin, Yin Yoga and Restorative Yoga’s at any point of the year; these are for All Levels and you need zero experience to join!
If you've never done an Ashtanga or Vinyasa class before; then we recommend you join our Beginners Vinyasa first. We offer this every Monday at 19:30-20:30 with Arben!
If you have any questions regarding which type of yoga best fits you and your needs please don't hesitate to email, call or ask one of our hosts in the studio!
